How to Save Cisco Config (wr mem)

I greatly appreciate your script for backing up Cisco configuration file on vbscript. Could you also provide the vbscript on saving Cisco config (copy run start or wr mem) files?

Hello Mariano.

We don't have any example scripts showing how to backup a
Cisco configuration.

Does anyone else have any examples for Mariano?

I'm actually working on such a script. It will go through and map out our cisco network and store the info in an excel file and well as save the configs in a text file.

As far as writing the config to flash on the cisco device:

## Telnet to device - pull value from excel

crt.screen.send "wr mem" & vbcr

## exit device, move pointer to next line in excel file

## rinse and repeat.

Sample script to wr mem

Here is a script, along with a sample "seed file" of devices that I have used in the past to issue a wr mem on multiple routers. This script has been updated to resume next on error and will log the results of each attempt to c:\results.txt. An entry in the text file that does not have an error description was completed successully. You can import the text file into Excel and use filters to find any routers that failed. Just change the extension on the wr mem.txt file to wr mem.vbs.

File Type: txt wr mem.txt (2.4 KB, 561 views)
