Installing Secure CRT Through Microsoft Group Policy

I use Microsoft Group Policy to deploy the majority of the software that we use. I was wondering of Vandyke has an MSI file so I can deploy Secure CRT /FX using Group Policy as well? If not does anybody have a recomendation on the best way to deploy Secure CRT/FX using Group Policy?

Kevin

Hi demtro,

The msi package is created when the installer for SecureCRT is launched.

Basically, the new .exe installers are wrappers around the msi, and are needed for checking system requirements, Windows installer version, etc.

After the installers run, the corresponding MSI is placed in a location according to the following pattern:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Downloaded Installations\<Installer GUID>\<msi file>

To have the msi created, just launch the .exe installer and wait for the first dialog with the 'Next' option to appear. Once this is present, the msi file has been created in the folder I mentioned above.

Does this information help in accomplishing your goal of deploying SecureCRT/SecureFX through a group policy?

Hi Kevin,

Custom installers that include license information are available for qualifying volume license purchases at no additional charge.

Would you send your license information to support@vandyke.com with a subject of Attn: Support - Forum Thread #3375?

Once I receive your license information I will be able to provide you with what options are available to you.

Please note that another prerequisite is having a license that is valid for the current release of the product. Custom installers are built based on the current, official release.
