Duplicate Host Keys in Known Hosts

Every time I connect to a host I get an identical file store in Known Hosts with a number in parentheses (1),(2)... Why does it not correctly identify the host/key?

Hello stantonh,

What version of SecureCRT are you using and on what platform?

Was the config migrated from another platform?

Does the original *.pub file have read permissions?

Was the config migrated from another platform? Possibly from Win - don't remember.

Does the original *.pub file have read permissions? File ownership is correct, perms are 664.

I finally tired of allowing the new key(s) so I deleted all files in KnownHosts. The problem has not returned and HostsDB.txt is rebuilding correctly.

If it was an import issue (Win->Linux), what should be done to export/import?

Thank you!

Hello All,

stantonh also had an e-mail thread with support. I have posted what we believe was the cause of the reported issue.

The reported issue was on a SecureCRT for Linux installation. stantonh did think he might have been using a migrated config that included the host keys and hostkey database from a SecureCRT/Windows installation.

Currently there are different formats of the filenames for each operating system.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database to match host key filename convention on Linux/Mac
to Windows to make sharing easier.

If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #10654" in the subject line.
