Occasional garbage at prompt
Hi all,
I feel like I've had this problem in the past with SecureCRT, asked the question, and had it fixed, but I can't for the life of me find the solution. Occasionally, most obviously at idle, SecureCRT will output a garbage character at the prompt in the form of a tilde "~" and a bell. These will stack up over time, and they can occur at any time and can cause input errors while typing commands. Host environment is CentOS 7.9.2009. This behavior is not exhibited in a WSL2 / Ubuntu client environment to the same host. Anti-idle is completely disabled so that's not the trick. Thanks in advance! |

Thank you Jake, that was it. And of course I see the FAQ right before seeing your reply, to make me feel extra-small today.

Don't sweat it
![]() If it were me, I'd consider creating a shortcut on my desktop named "~" that takes me to that FAQ should the problem resurface during a season of partly cloudy memory. Then all I'd have to remember is, "Where did I put that shortcut, and what did I name it?" --Jake
