virtual root setup for user group
We have 67 local user accounts which are part of 1 user local group.
VSRGroup - local group VSR_user1 VSR_user2 VSR_user3 .... VSR_user67 How can we setup a virtual root to allow each account to login with to their home folder, VSR_user1, and only read/write to that folder and sub folders? Can 1 virtual root entry be created with a wildcard, for all 67 accounts? |

Hi durdeng,
Great! In the Common / Virtual Roots category, when you configure actual virtual root paths (or aliases), you can use the %USER% substitution variable as part of the path and/or alias so that you only need to configure one virtual root but all 67 users would have their own unique virtual root. More info about substitution variables is found in the VShell Configuration / Common / Virtual Root Path Dialog topic in VShell's Help file. Note also that there is an option for Create %USER% root path when user connects on the Virtual Roots category page also that can reduce the overhead even further. Those directories will not need to pre-exist, VShell will create them when the user connects. ![]()

Currently we are using %user%, but all user folders are visible to a
user. Our goal is to put the user at their home folder, not the root of folders. Is there anyway to have the signed user only see their home folder and subfolders? |

Hi durdeng,
We will need more info about your virtual root configuration. It would probably be best to take this out of the public forums. Please send email to support@vandyke.com and include "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #12666" in the subject line.
