unable to sftp or scp SFX to VShell on same machine
I've installed SecureFX and VShell running on the same Windows XP PC so that I can test out some trigger-executed scripts before moving them to production. Unfortunately, I can't even get as far as completing a connection with SFX to VSH.
If I select 'SFTP', the VShell log reports: 2014-02-10 12:25:45 VShellSSH2 conn 6 127.0.0.1 2137 <internal>\testuser - - 0 0 0 0 - - "00006: Failed to start unknown subsystem sftp" If I select 'SCP' I get a different error: 2014-02-10 12:36:28 VShellSSH2 conn 8 127.0.0.1 2225 <internal>\testuser - - 0 0 0 0 - - "00008: Could not start program (cd %22.%22 && pwd): The system cannot find the file specified." I can see 'SftpSubsystem.dll' in VShell\Plugins and assume that's what Vshell needs for SFTP support. The 'testuser' account is defined in a local user database and has permissions for both SCP and SFTP. I don't know what else to try at this point and have even done uninstall/reinstall of both apps to no avail. Thanks, Matt |

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the post. This is a known issue when using VShell 4.0 official on Windows XP. Please send an email to support@vandyke.com with a subject of Attn: Todd - Forum thread #11391 if you would like me to make the pre-release build that has a fix available to you for testing. |

Hi all,
The other issue with SCP when using SecureFX to connect to VShell is a configuration issue. It is necessary to configure a SecureFX session to use MSDOS in the Operating system: dropdown menu located in the File Transfer / FTP/SFTP category of the Session Options dialog to use SCP when connecting to VShell. |
