Question Transferring identity to a new server

We have purchased new servers and I am tasked with setting up VCP on the new servers.

What I have done so far:
  • Installed SecureCRT on the new server
  • Installed ClientPack on the new server
  • Copied the identity file and identity.pub file onto the new server into the exact same directory where they existed previously.

So, after that, I marched out to the command prompt and tried a simple VCP command that currently works on the old server and it didn't work. I got a message that looked like it was going to transfer a file, but then instead it said "Not Connected" twice.

I looked in the documentation for the client pack and don't see anything about setting up these identity files, but I am sure it has something to do with that. I am online right now trying to find out more about that, but not having luck yet.

Any ideas? Thanks so much for any help!!!

Hello Paul,

What operating system is the new server?

What version of ClientPack is installed on the new server?

Could you supply a debug log of the failed connection attempt to support@vandyke.com?

Please include "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #8914" in the subject line.

If logging is not currently part of the vcp command-line, you would add -v -v -v and --log <filename> options for a verbose debug log.
