date-time stamp in CRT

HI

I am working in ZORAN microelectronics and we are using your CRT application to connect to devices via RS232 serial port.
I need the CRT to echo the date and time before displaying each line.
I got a serial device that is conected to the CRT. the device is outputting messages and information. I need the CRT to print the date and time before the line output by the device.
[date][time] - [line from device]
for example:

[27-02-07][12:04.923] - text being sent by the device, first line
[27-02-07][12:04.955] - text being sent by the device, second line
[27-02-07][12:04.999] - text being sent by the device, third line
thanks

Hi Amir_born,

If I understand correctly, you need an option to automatically add the current time and date to each line in CRT.

I just had a couple of questions.

Do these additions need to be made in a log file of the session, the terminal window for CRT, or both?

Could you tell me more about the need for the time and date stamps?

Are you scripting any of the commands to the serial device?

HI

Thanks
for the replay.

I need it both in the CRT window and on the log files.
It should not be sent to the ports just echo to the screen and log file.
The device printout debug information to the 2 port which we monitor using the CRT.
In order to sync between the printouts and to know which one come before the other (between the 2 ports) we need time+date stamp in every line.
I prefere it to be generated by the CRT itself and not by a script.

thanks

Hi,

I think I can see what you want as a solution, but I'm not sure I adequately understand the problem you're trying to solve.

Are you connecting to the 2 ports using separate instances of CRT, or one single instance using tabs?

When you print, are you using CRT's printing functionality to print the screen/selection, or is the device somehow kicking off the print job using a pass-through printing escape sequence?

What type of device are you monitoring, and how are you connecting to the two ports from CRT?

Hi Amirb,

Thank you for the additional information!

I have added a request to see if the option to display a time/date stamp in the terminal window can be added to CRT.

The option to add the time/date stamp to the log in CRT has been added to version 5.5 which is in beta release and can be downloaded here:

http://www.vandyke.com/download/crt/beta.html

Does this help?

it is working but...

1. only on log files and it is not displayed on the CRT window it self.
2. we need also mSec (as addition to the hours and minutes).

can you enter those remaining requiprments?

thanks

Hi Amir,

As I mentioned in my previous post, there currently isn't an option for the time/date stamp to appear in the session window.

I have entered this request and we will let you know if any future version of SecureCRT has this option.

As for the milliseconds, this can be added by using the '%t' variable. Other substitutions can be found in the 'Terminal/Log File' section of SecureCRT's help file.

Was this the information needed?
