SecureCRT find broken

Find will not work for a value which was line wrapped.

Find will locate lines where the value wasn't wrapped but for those that are it doesn't.

Hi Killing,

What version of SecureCRT are you using?

Has this worked in a version of SecureCRT prior to the one that you are currently using?

Hi Killing,

Thanks for the version.

I ran some tests, and found that this is expected behavior. Find is currently implemented to match strings which appear contiguously on a single row/line. It doesn't matter if you disconnect and reconnect, are searching for data in the scrollback buffer or are searching for data in the terminal window.

We will post to this thread if we expand the capability of the Find function to match a series of characters spanning multiple rows.

Oh you're right it never works!

That's a major issue, I use find all the time and so this is likely to have caused me countless problems in the past that I never realised. I'm sure many others will be in the same situation too

To draw a parallel you wouldn't expect an editor's find to fail to find a wrapped word, so why should a search in a console?

Could you provide ETA on a fix for this?

Hi Killing,

Terminal emulators are not similar to text editors. One way to work within the limits of the current find functionality would be to increase the columns such that wrapping is less likely to occur.

We don't have an ETA for implementing an enhanced find that searches for strings that span multiple terminal rows.
