Question Visual indicator of Script Running?

Is there a way to visually to indicate if a script is running in a session/tab without user intervention?

Maybe like tab color change?

Thanks
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie427,

The easiest option would be to utilize SecureCRT's Status Bar. You could set the status bar text at the start of your script and clear it at the end. This would look something like the below code.

Code:
crt.Session.SetStatusText "A Script is running"

<your script code>

crt.Session.SetStatusText ""
Does this provide the desired behavior?

Question

Looking for more like session Tab color/indicator so with multiple tabs no need to activate tab to see status.

I would like to see something like the "connected green check mark" but different. (example Purple check mark)

Product enhancement?
Feature request?

Thanks
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie427,

SecureCRT's tab color is not currently scriptable.

I have recorded your idea in our database of SecureCRT feature requests so that the product director can evaluate it for possible inclusion in a future release.

Should a version of SecureCRT become available with this feature, we will be sure to let you know.

We may be able to change the background color for the terminal, the color scheme of the session. I don't know that this would fit your needs however, you would need to review each tab to see if the sessions color scheme as changed.

Is this something you would be interested in exploring?

Hi jchaves,

You can find additional information on the SetStatusText method in SecureCRT's help. It would be located in Scripting > Script Objects Reference > Session Object.

The Python syntax is:

Code:
object.SetStatusText(text)
The example blow should work in Python scripts.

Code:
crt.Session.SetStatusText("This is an example")

crt.Sleep(3000)

crt.Session.SetStatusText("")
Does this help?

Support for a tab status indicator that shows that a script is running has been added to a pre-beta version of SecureCRT. If you would like to try it, please email me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.
