Change Tab Colors/Fonts

Is it possible to change the colors and fonts used for the tab headings? Not the contents of the tab, but the actual tab's label itself? I find the black text on dark grey background used on the inactive (i.e. not currently selected) tabs almost impossible to read, which makes it difficult to return to the tab I need. I would like to be able to either change that background color or change the text for higher contrast.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim.

We don't currently have a mechanism to give you specific
control over the colors on the tabs, but you might find
colors that work better for you by changing the Theme
setting under the View menu.

Are there any themes that work better for you?

Thank you

JJH

Thanks for the quick response. I'm sorry, I should have specified that I'm a Mac user - there doesn't appear to be a Theme option under OS X. I installed the Windows version on a VM and the problem doesn't exist there, I can easily read the non-active tab titles. It's just the black text on extremely dark grey combo used in OS X that's causing me problems. The theme option would likely fix the issue, is that slated for the OS X version anytime soon?

Hi JJH,

my question is going into the same direction. I am searching for a way to make the connection type (SSH/Telnet or Serial mostly) visible directly in the connection tab. Currently the only way is the tab naming but as soon as you open a lot of tabs you have to put it directly to the beginning but then you sometimes lose the tab identification and need to wait for mouse-over info or actually select it. Colorization or small extra icons mentioning the connection type would be great here.

Thanks,
Bastian

Color Tabs would be a great enhancement. I manage multiple servers, colored tabs for different environments (production, test, development, etc) would make life so much easier.

It seems like this would be a simple addition.

Auto-assign a different theme - based on hostname

Hi there,

all my production servers have the string "prod" in their name.

I wonder if there is any way to automatically assign a different theme (or at least a different tab style) to this hosts, so that it is easy for me to distinguish production servers from test servers.

Any ideas how to do this?

Thank you,
-martin

Hi Martin,

Not presently, sorry. The themes are universal to the app and presently tab color cannot be changed.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database for the ability to override tab colors. Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct email notification, send an email to support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #11128" in the subject line or use this form from the support page of our website.

What OS is SecureCRT installed on?

What version is it?

What is available presently is to change the color *scheme* on a session basis. This is found in the Terminal / Appearance category of Session Options.

There were about eight of them originally, but since these were added in v8.3.x:

Changes in SecureCRT 8.3 (Beta 1) -- September 21, 2017
-------------------------------------------------------
New features:

  • Added several new built-in color schemes, including the Solarized color schemes. There is a variety of light and dark color schemes, all of which have coordinated background, foreground, and ANSI color combinations.
There's 22 available "built-in". Plus you can create your own (ie: RED background for Prod machines).

We have example scripts in this forum post related to color schemes.
