SecureCRT 8.1.1 (build 1319) not retaining window geometry properly

I am encountering a very annoying behavior according to window geometry.

I have several sessions with 24 rows, 80 columns setup. Synchronize view on resize is enabled. Sometimes after toggling the window size by double clicking on the window title bar the window geometry stays at 61 rows, 256 columns. The session setup stills shows 24 rows, 80 columns configured.

Btw. the same session profiles work perfectly under SecureCRT is 8.1.1 on Windows. So this problem seems to be related to the macOS version only.

SecureCRT is 8.1.1 (build 1319) running on macOS Sierra 10.12.3 on a MacBook Pro 13" 2016.

Kind Regards,
Frank

Hi flohse,

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble.

When you say
Quote:
toggling the window size by double clicking on the window title bar
do you mean to maximize it then return it to the original size?

Does this happen every time you toggle in this way? With
every session?

There are a few things that might be affecting the way that
your screen is being displayed. The first tab always
determines the way that things will be displayed for the
subsequent tabs that you open. If you you have sessions with
differing settings, every subsequent tab, after you open the
first one, will take on the display settings from the first
tab. If you were to right click a tab and choose "Send to
new window", the session should be displayed as it was
configured.

Hello Eric,

I know that the first tab determines the size of subsequent tabs, but nevertheless thanks for the hint. I haved used the Windows version of SecureCRT several years and recently switched to macOS.

With toggling I mean maximizing and reverting back to normal size.

Here is the procedure how to trigger the problem. It does not happen always but often enough that you should be able to reproduce it.

I have ~10 sessions always open after the first start of the program. All sessions as same as the default session have 24 rows and 80 columns configured. I now can maximize the window by double clicking the title bar and revert it back to the previous size. The row/column geometry stays the same. Then I maximze the window again and clone the right session. The cloned session will now show 61 rows and 256 columns in my case as displayed in the windows bottom info bar. When I now try to bring the window back to its original size the window has its original size but the rows/columns stay at 61/256 instead of changing also to the original setup of 24/80. Clicking on another session tab which has 24/80 rows/columns leads to the result that the window is resized to the 61/256 rows/columns geometry and can not be brought back to its original size easily by double clicking the window title bar.

The same happens if I enable the button bar from the menu. Starting with 24 rows and 80 columns sessions, maximizing the window with double click to the title bar, reverting back to normal size with double click to the title bar, enabling button bar, maximize window with double click and again the window has 61 rows and 256 columns and can not be brought back to normal size with the double click to the title bar.

The Windows version shows no such behavior.

Regards Frank

Hi flohse,

It sounds like it may be a bug. We had reports of similar behavior that has been addressed in a pre-release version. If you are interested in trying out this version please send an email to Support@VanDyke.com with "Attn: Eric Forum thread 12639" in the subject.

If you have not created a Vandyke download account you will need to so do.

If you write in from a an email that is not associated with your download account please include that email address as well.
