Serial disconnects on MAC

I have a problem with SecureCRT on MAC. I have the same problem on two MACs with OS X 10.9 and not at all on a PC with Windows 7.

I use a Parani SD1000 Bluetooth-Serial adapter.

The problem is that when i connect a serial session it immediately disconnects. When i try to connect through the Terminal it works without any issues. And here comes the funny part. It ONLY disconnects when i connect the serial cable. And immediately when i connect it to a device, Cisco devices in my case.

I have a trace output when it disconnects:

SecureCRT - Version 7.3.0 (build 597)
[SERIAL-TRACE] : Open serial port[/dev/cu.SD1000v208-1E6239-Gener] ==> Handle[21]
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: BAUD-RATE=9600
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: PARITY=none
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: STOP-BITS=1
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: DATA-BITS=8
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: DSR-OUTPUT-FLOW-HONORED=no
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: DTR-CONTROL=enable/high/on
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: CTS-OUTPUT-FLOW-HONORED=no
[SERIAL-TRACE] : SERIAL-CONFIG: RTS-CONTROL=handshake
[SERIAL-TRACE] : Duplicate handle[21] --> New handle[22]
[SERIAL-TRACE] : Close Handle[21]
[SERIAL-TRACE] : Close Handle[22]
[LOCAL] : Stream has closed [CLOSE_TYPE_NONSPECIFIC] : Undefined error: 0

I have tried with 7.2.3, 7.2.4, 7.2.5 and 7.3.0 beta. The same on all versions

I really hope that someone can shed som light on this issue.

amazing, I just bought the Parani SD1000 for my mac and it arrived this week. I'm having the same issue - on some switches it works great, such as Cisco 3750, and on other Cisco devices it immediately disconnects - Cisco 6500 switch, Cisco 2800 router, Cisco ASR 1001 router.

Is there anything I can do to help with this, I'd really like to get this adapter working.

Hello miteethor,

It looks like we already have trace options output from jfktech, so I think that is all that is needed at this time.

As a data point, please post the version of SecureCRT installed and Mac OS.

Should progress be made toward a resolution, or further information be requested, we will post in this thread.

Lightbulb

Which older version of SecureCRT does work with the Parani SD1000 on Mac?

Having the same issue, using OSX 10.10.1 (Yosemite) with SecureCRT 7.2.6 (build 606).

Hello Maeslander,

I do not have any info that *any* version of SecureCRT/Mac has worked with this device. The issue seems to *only* occur on Mac OS X. We have many customers that use the same device on Windows successfully.

Our development team is still working on the issue. When we have an update we will post here.

Any updates on this? I have this thing in my bag and it's basically a paperweight. I still have to carry my old adapter because I can't trust this thing will work correctly.

Hi miteethor,

Our development team notified Parani of the problem, but I don't think any progress has been made. I will check with SecureCRT's product director and post here if I have further news.
