Unhappy X11 forwarding not working in Mountain Lion DP4

SCRT 7.0.0(307) (same problem in 6.7.5), XQuartz 2.7.2

When I try to use an X app through a forwarded X session, I get an error:

"Rejecting X11 forwarding request from [::1]:47015 because connection to the X11 server failed. Hostname lookup failed: host not found"

On my Mac, both "ping6 localhost" and "DISPLAY='[::1]:0.0' xdpyinfo" work (as do DISPLAYs of localhost:0.0, 127.0.0.1:0.0, and unix:0.0)

Hi cgaspar,

Mountain Lion is not yet a supported operating system in SecureCRT.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database for support for Mountain Lion operating system (Mac OS X). Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #10525" in the subject line.

If you use Terminal.app (not connected to anything) and try to run xclock or xeyes, what are the results?

Unless you're planning on dropping your brand new Mac client, I assume you _will_ be supporting Mountain Lion. Which is why I'm reporting a bug in your beta on Apple's beta, to allow you to fix it (or convince Apple to, if it's their bug) before both of your products go prod. If you'd rather I wait and file support tickets after it's officially supported and nag you about SLAs, I can do that instead, but then why do you release betas?

X apps work fine locally.
X apps work fine remotely.
X apps work fine when tunneled over the built in ssh command line client.
X apps do _not_ work tunneled over SecureCRT.

I assume someone at Vandyke is running Mountain Lion. Does it work for them? If so, I'm happy to assist in tracking down whats different in my configuration. If not, spending your time testing internally would be more productive.

Hello cgaspar,

This is a public forum, so the information was posted as a general FYI.

There are no plans to drop SecureCRT for the Mac platform. Development efforts are typically prioritized based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the number of requests and the amount of implementation work required.

As you are the first individual to mention using SecureCRT on Mountain Lion, I have created the feature request to ensure compatibility with that operating system. In the meantime, I would like to obtain additional information to help us better understand the issue.

What are the results of echo $DISPLAY when you are connected with the built-in ssh client?

What are the results of echo $DISPLAY when you are connected with SecureCRT?

Built-in ssh: localhost:11.0
scrt: localhost:11.0

And if y'all don't have ML DP4 in house yet, that worries me (as it would for any developer of software for MacOS)

In the good news category, I just installed 7.0.0 build 318 and now X11 forwarding appears to be working. Nothing in the release notes, but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth ;-)

Hi cgaspar,

I am glad to hear the SecureCRT 7.0 beta 4 release for Mac OS X seems to have resolved the issue.

Thanks for posting the update here.

Hi cgaspar, All,

SecureCRT 7.0.1 is considered compatible with Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). You can download SecureCRT 7.0.1 from the following location:
