password properties

I am on 8.0.3 x64 build 1183. Under session options, ssh2, authentication, password, properties, there is store password along with the password field and confirmation password field and a button labeled change remote password. I cannot find anything that describes this button and what it does. Can someone tell me what the button will do? I don't want to click it without knowing.

Hi classicmouser,

This option requires that the remote server supports both the SSH2 protocol and changing passwords at the protocol level. If it does, the password for the account on the remote SSH2 server can be changed by using this option.

This would change the password on the remote system rather than simply changing the password SecureCRT sends to the remote system.

Does this help clarify?

Can I assume that by using session grouping/folders I can then change the password on an entire group of servers using this method. If so that is a nice shortcut to changing my password on many servers at once.

Hi classicmouser,

SecureCRT does not currently support the use of Change Password to update multiple accounts at once. Change Password requires a separate connection to be initiated to each device, this is not something SecureCRT currently does when using multi-select.

I have recorded your idea in our database of SecureCRT feature requests so that the product director can evaluate it for possible inclusion in a future release.

Should a version of SecureCRT become available with this feature, we will be sure to let you know. If you would like to be notified directly please send an email to Support@VanDyke.com with "Feature Request Forum Post 13333" in the subject line.
