Open a new window, or open a quick-connect in a new window

Hi,

My defaults are to open new sessions in the same window, and I'm happy with this, generally. From there, I organize sessions by having groups of tiles in different windows depending on the group of devices I want to have visible in a single pane of glass.

I don't generally use sessions, I prefer to use quick connect. Sometimes I'd like to get quick connect to open the session in a new window instead of having it open a new tile in the active window. I'd like to do this without having to change my system defaults to open all sessions in new windows.

Is this possible?

The Quick Connect window has an option located right above the [Cancel] and [Connect] buttons which will allow you to temporarily toggle whether or not the connection opens up in a tab/tile vs. a new window.

Is there a reason why this option doesn't work for what you need?

Ah! That's perfect. I didn't see that option. I meant I was using the "Connect Bar" not Quick Connect. however, disabling that option and using Apple-K is just as easy!

Thank you!!

You're very welcome.

Also note that even if you forget, and you end up opening a new connection in the same window, you can always right-click (control-click on macOS) a tab/tile(by its title bar) and choose "Send to New Window" to get an aggregated connection sent to its own window.

You can also map a button on SecureCRT's button bar (or a keyboard shortcut, if you prefer) that, when clicked, will send the active tab to a new window.

If you're mapping a button, it might look something like this:
If you're mapping a key, you'd do so in the Default session, and apply the change to all of your existing sessions (so that no matter the session, you'd have the keyboard combination defined to do what you want). It'd look something like this in the configuration:

Does this help?
