Feature Request - Close all Tabs

I frequently have ten or so tabs open and after I'm done with them, I would like a 'Close all Tabs'. This is similar to 'File - Reconnect All' or 'File - Disconnect All'.

I tried looking at the Help file to see if there was some feature that already does this, but I couldn't find on. I didn't feel like this would be something I should write a script for, but it would be possible.

Hi Monte.Tucker,

It is not currently possible to close all tabs at once without a script or closing SecureCRT. Additionally, with a script it would only be possible to close all but the last tab.

I have created a feature request in our SecureCRT development database to add this capability. Should a future release of SecureCRT have this capability we will post to this forum thread. If you would like to be notified directly, please send an email to support@vandyke.com with a subject of Feature Request in Forum Thread #4304.

Zombies?

If you have that many windows open, shouldn't you make sure all windows are back at a login after gracefully exiting your app?

Otherwise you run the risk of leaving Zombie sessions with open files for a while (a few minutes to several hours depending on the reaper settings on the server).

If they are all at a login, just hit X to kill all the sessions in the tabs at one time.

This has been implemented in a pre-beta version of SecureCRT. If you would like to try it, please send email to me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.

Doesn't holding down Ctrl-F4 achieve this?
Or Alt-F4?

Not quite:
  • CTRL+F4 closes the active session.
  • ALT+F4 closes all sessions and the application.
  • The new menu item closes all sessions, but leaves the application window open.

AFAIK it repeatedly closes the 'active' session until all sessions have been closed.

You are correct that holding down CTRL+F4 will close all the sessions. We had several requests for a menu item that would close all the sessions and leave the application window open, so we obliged.

For those just joining us:
  • SecureCRT 7.3 B1 introduced a Close All Sessions menu item to the Tab/Tile context menu (right-click on the tab/tile caption).
  • SecureCRT 8.0 B1 introduced a Close All Not Connected menu item to the Tab/Tile context menu.

These functions can be mapped to a Menu Function button on the button bar if you prefer:
MENU_TAB_CLOSE_ALL
MENU_TAB_CLOSE_ALL_NOT_CONNECTED.
FYI.
