Offline/Editor mode

Is it possible to take an active session into "Editor mode"?
In this mode the keyboard will momentarily be offline.
This will allow the user to browse the terminal using basic editor controls, e.g. PgUp/Down, Arrow, Ctrl-arrows, etc.
In addition it would allow the user to select parts of the text on the terminal for later use.
During this time the terminal remains active and keeps collecting data (similar to disabling "Scroll to bottom on output")

Without this mode, the only way to select text is with the mouse. Quite inconvenient when using a text terminal...

Hello eee,

I am not sure of the functionality you are requesting.

What problem are you trying to solve?

What version of SecureCRT are you using?

Using "Version 7.0.4 (build 537) - Official Release - April 4, 2013"

I am a "keyboard person", i.e. I try to use the mouse as little as possible.
When working with the terminal, it is very common for me to select text from the screen to be used either as a command in the terminal or elsewhere.
This can be done either by selecting with the mouse or changing to a log file and selection from there.

I would like the ability to select (and copy) directly from the terminal using the keyboard.

Hello eee,

The functionality desired is not currently available in SecureCRT.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database to add the ability to select text using keyboard (shift, arrow, cursor). Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #11175" in the subject line.

A possible workaround would be to map a special keystroke to run a script and send the contents of the current screen to your favorite editor for ease of selecting the desired text.

See attachments which include example scripts (VBScript and Python) and the keymap configuration in a SecureCRT session.

If you have multiple sessions (or even all sessions) where you want this functionality, see the appropriate tips on our website.

Please note that if you already have some keymaps in place in some/all sessions, you may have to add the new keymap manually.
