Thumbs down Mouse select intermittently failing on 7.x

My current instance of SecureCRT 7.2 with ~15 windows is intermittently failing to select text in the console's, when dragging the cursor over the required text.

Selecting text in the chat box at the bottom works.

Switching to different tab will sometimes allow text to be selected for a short while but then it may fail again.

Loading a new tab doesn't make any difference.

Loading a new version of SecureCRT ~ 10 tabs doesn't make any difference.

Latter tabs seem to fail more often than earlier tabs, to the extent that my last tab I can't get to select at all.

SecureCRT is running on a remote machine being accessed via RDP.

Not sure what's changed in these later builds but this is the second input based issue I'm experiencing with 7.2.

Just got into the office and its the same on the desktop, so RDP does not seem to be a factor.

Also noticed that "Select All" always seems to work, so its mouse input select only.

The only fix seems to have been a reboot. Closing SecureCRT even the activator and restarting had no effect.

In case its relevant OS is Windows XP

Hello Killing,

We have received reports of this type of problem over the years, but rarely has the cause been SecureCRT.

These have been some of the known causes of the issue in the past:

- Updated mouse driver (or out of date driver)
- Running X Windows server on PC
- Happens on laptops

There are other possible causes.

Did the issue *just* start occurring since upgrading to v7.2?

If so, I'd expect that any protection software you have installed (anti-virus, anti-malware) might see this new software as a potential threat, as it has a completely different footprint/product code and signature.

You stated rebooting does resolve the issue. One reason a reboot may help is because on reboot, mouse drivers will be reloaded, so that might be the first thing to investigate.

Are the mouse drivers up-to-date?

Thanks for the response, I'm just a bit sensitive after CTRL+A was also intermittently broken by 7.2.

I've been using the older versions of SecureCRT for years, on this machine never had this before, only since 7.2.

No AV / anti-malware, or mouse drivers have been changed.

The only application that was effected was SecureCRT and only in the main console windows

I'll monitor it and see if it happens again, hopefully it won't surface again and we can put it down to "one of those things" so thanks for feedback.

I am not aware of the Ctrl+A issue you referenced.

Have you submitted a bug report?

Has the issue been resolved?

Hello Killing,

And did you send that information as requested?

If you sent anything on Friday, there may have been an issue.

Please (re)send the information as requested in my post.
