Attempting to import from text file or csv fails
SecureCRT Version: 8.7.1 (x64 build 2171)
Host OS: Windows 10 Attempting to use the script found on the vandyke support page (VBS version) to import a text file (also tried with csv file) to import sessions into the tool. Script Name: ImportArbitraryDataFromFileToSecureCRTSessions.vbs When I run the script, and select either the .txt or the .csv file, I receive an error as follows: Error: Unknown field designation: description Supported fields are as follows: description,emulation,folder,hostname,port,protocol,session_name_username My header from my text file is as follows (with no additional characters): description,emulation,folder,hostname,port,protocol,session_name,username The text and csv files are correctly created via Excel and have been reviewed in notepad to not contain any extraneous characters. |

This script is only able to read ANSI file encoding at this time. Please re-open your .txt file in Notepad, navigate to File > Save As, and there should be an Encoding: option near the bottom of the Save As dialog box. Change this option to ANSI and save the file. For back up purposes, you may wish to save this change under a different name. Once you have your newly saved, ANSI-encoded .txt file, please attempt to run the script using the new file.

Thank you very much. That was it. My text editor was saving in UTF-8, and once I resaved the file as ANSI, it imported perfectly.
Thank you. ![]() |
