line wraps but with no newline

For many of my SSH sessions when I type a command long enough to wrap the command will continue on the opposite side of the screen but on the same line, so it's overwriting the prompt and eventually the beginning of the command.

Any ideas for a terminal settings that would make the line wrap correctly?

Thanks

Hi Awfki,

Thanks for the question. This sounds like a familiar issue I have seen in the past. Are you using a customized prompt?

What shell are you using?

What are the values of the PS1 and PROMPT_COMMAND environment variables if you are using Bash?

This on a BIG-IP LTM (linux based appliance) that's running bash.

PS1='[$USER@$(getHostName):$(getPromptStatus)$(getAvcCount)] \W \$ '

PROMPT_COMMAND isn't set.

Hi Awfki,

Thanks for information. Would you post the output of 'stty -a'?

Also, I would like to get a raw log of the problem happening. Here are the instructions for creating a raw log:
  1. Before connecting with the session, select Raw Log Session from SecureCRT's File menu.
  2. In the Select Log File dialog, choose a folder and filename in which you would like the log text to be stored and click the Save button. At this point, if you open the File menu, you will notice that Raw Log Session now has a check-mark next to it; this indicates that raw logging is activated.
  3. Now connect to the remote machine and perform the actions which cause the reported problem to occur.
  4. Disconnect the session and select Raw Log Session from the File menu to turn off the raw log feature.
  5. Browse to the location of the raw log file and attach it to your message.
Would you send the raw log to support@vandyke.com with a subject of Attn: Todd - Forum Thread #8913?

Hi Torino,

The customer was unable to continue working on the issue.

Please share the explicit details of the issue you are facing.

What version of SecureCRT are you using?

On what OS/platform?
