session scrolls endlessly

OS is XP SP3
CRT is Version 4.0.7 (build 443) (Corporate multi-user license)
When I ssh2 into some devices and issue a command at the cli which produces a lot of screen output, the window locks up and I have to kill it.
Can anyone please recommend a setting(s) to look at and/or any debug mechanisms to assist in understanding why this occurs?
Regards,
Tom

Hello Tom,

First, are you using CRT or SecureCRT?

If SecureCRT, you might want to check your upgrade eligibility, based on purchase date, here.

Could you qualify what you mean by "a lot of screen output"?

Could you provide trace options output of the session, prior to issuing the command at the cli, following the instructions below?

It's often useful to see "trace options" output which provides debugging information that may help us better understand the problem that you're experiencing.

To enable trace options output:
  • First, open SecureCRT's main "File" pull-down menu and select "Trace Options". If you open the "File" pull down menu again you should see a checkmark next to "Trace Options", indicating that troubleshooting output is now enabled.
  • Next, connect to the remote machine. With trace options enabled, you will notice debugging information displayed in the terminal window that isn't normally there by default when SecureCRT is attempting to establish a connection, and at certain times throughout the lifetime of the connection.
  • Once the problem occurs, please right-click inside the terminal window and choose "Select All", then right-click again and choose "Copy" to transfer the information to the Windows clipboard.
  • Finally, open a text editor like 'Notepad', paste the information from the Windows clipboard into the editor program, and save it as a text file.
Since trace options can contain sensitive information, feel free to send it as an attachment via e-mail to support@vandyke.com. Please reference "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #5699" in the subject line.

Using the above information, are you able to provide "trace options" output?

Hi Brenda,
Email sent. Thanks. When I use a competitors product, the cli ouput of the attached device seems to be throttled or slowed down. This doesn't happen with scrt and it seems to get so busy outputing that it can't respond to cli input.
Tom

Hi Tom,

Thanks, I have received the trace options via e-mail. I have responded in that e-mail thread.
