question to change sys.path

Hi,

I want to create a python script to run in SecureCRT 8.7.3, the script will look at a text file for variable.
I have checked some other post recommend to use configparser but I have failed to import it when I run the script.
I have gone through some post in the forum saying that the modules need to be find by SecureCRT in the sys.path. I found that in my sys.path, that is using Python 2.7 however I want to use Python 3.8 and I have already installed Python3.8 with configparser.

Would you please help if there are any method to modify the sys.path to pointing the path to Python3.8?

Thank you

Best Regards,

Terry Chow

Hi Terry,

Version 9.0 (Windows beta 1 release was yesterday) supports Python 3:

Changes in SecureCRT 9.0 (Beta 1) -- September 24, 2020
-------------------------------------------------------
New Features:
  • Windows: Added support for Python 3. Python 3.8 (available at python.org) must be installed and the script's first line must be: # $language = "python3". Since support for Python 3 is provided through an external module, Python 3 libraries can be used in SecureCRT scripts.

Hi Terry,

Python 3 support for macOS is expected to be added in a later beta release. We expect all platforms will get the rest of the beta releases, but the date for beta 2 is not known yet.

The best way to stay informed as to release dates is to subscribe to the product announcements on our website.
