How is it possible to activate Timestamp?

Hallo, I am an user of Secure CRT. I am doing a logging on one equipment but this equipment is not able to send a time value together with the row in which it said what it is doing. Is it possible to set a timestamp on Secure CRT, so that, every time this equipment sends a log, CRT adds a tag with the time? Regards

In order to assist with this, I need to get a little more iformation.

First, can you tell me a little more about the current process. You mentioned that the equipment that you are connecting to sends a log to CRT. Is this a file that CRT is downloading?

Are you connecting to the device, issuing a command, and then logging the data as it is sent over the console?

When you speak of adding a tag with the time, are you refering to appending the data to the log file name?

Are you wanting this to be added to every line of data that is being logged?

This information should give us a good place to start.

Thank you,

Question How is it possible to activate Timestamp?

Hi VanDyke Team!

I was looking for this feature, too.

I log in to my DUT, perform some commands and would like to log the whole session including a timestamp before each output, f.ex. like this:

[2010/09/28 15:15:00 0900] uname << Command
[2010/09/28 15:15:01 0900] Linux << Result
[2010/09/28 15:15:02 0900] << Enter
[2010/09/28 15:15:02 0900] df -kl
a.s.o

The timestamp might be different or configurable (same as log file name?).

Is is possible f.ex. with SecureCRT 6.1.3?

Thanx in advance for any help.

Hi everybody!

Just a few minutes have past since my last entry and yet, I've already found the solution.

Go to Session Option > Terminal > Log File

You'll find the section [Custom log data].
Type in f.ex. following timestamp: [%Y/%M/%D %h:%m:%s]

You'll probably have to restart the session (disconnect > connect).

Cheers

Hi VanDyke Team!

I am using CRT version Version 5.1.1 but I have not found section [Custom log data] under Session Option > Terminal > Log File.

Then how to activate timestamp before each output.

Thanks in advance.

Jyoti, there is no way to perform such a task in SecureCRT version 5.1.1, as the "Custom log data" option was simply not implemented in the software until the release of SecureCRT version 5.5.1. FYI, version 5.1.1 has not been under active development since May 2006.

If you wish to discover whether your license is eligible to register with version 5.5.1, you can send a message to support@vandyke.com with the subject Attn Cameron: Forum Thread 1070, and include the serial number associated with your license in the body of that message. Please do NOT post that information to this forum thread.

Alternatively, if you wish to purchase a license that can register with the current official version of SecureCRT, you can contact our Orders team at:
