The Evaluation period has Expired...

We keep getting intermittent job failures stating "The evaluation period has expired. For more information on purchasing a license..." message. It happens only with certain aliases. Others run fine without any issue. VShell is licensed

Hi getoffmypatch,

It seems like we are missing crucial data. VShell as a server, if registered, doesn't distinguish between certain connections. It accepts connections that can provide valid credentials and are allowed based on other criteria that can be configured in the VShell control panel.

Can you provide more details about these "jobs" that are failing?

Hi Todd,

The jobs are just remote executions. VShell handles the incoming connections and the credentials provided are valid. Its confusing that the "failures" are intermittent and throwing this error. Anything I can do to help diagnose?

Tks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

To reiterate, if VShell is registered, it won't tell one connection that it can't perform a task because it isn't registered, but it can for another connection. If VShell is registered, then all connections will be accepted.

It seems like the failure is not with the connection to VShell, but with something else.

We still need more details about what is connecting to VShell, and how it is being run.

What are you trying to run remotely after connecting to VShell?

Thanks Todd -

The only remote part is the execution scheduler (AutoSys). This uses a batch file to call an executable on the server with VShell. What you say above makes sense to me. We are just trying to understand where the issue is in the whole process. Would there be any log files that tell us more?

Tks,
Shane

You are welcome Shane.

At this point, I don't know what log you would consult. I don't have any details as to how VShell is involved in your process or what program is being launched.

What program is being launched that is stating that it is not registered?

How is VShell involved in the failure of the program you are trying to run?
