Slow Tab switching and slow Chat Window

SecureCRT 7.0.4 x86 build 537

When I have about 30 tabs open at one time, switching between tabs has a noticeable lag that gets worse the more tabs I open. In addition, when I send commands to all tabs via the chat window at the bottom, secure crt 'locks up' until it gets finished sending the commands to all the tabs. I can watch the tabs change from grey to blue (indicating activity in the tab). I upgraded to Windows 10. I did not have this issue on Windows 7.

It's almost like it's writing logs or data over the VPN every time I switch tabs. I'm used to having 75-100 tabs open at a time with no degradation in performance.

I've disabled "Save expanded folder stat" in "Connect dialog" but I didn't see any improvement. It's almost like this is a windows problem because the more tabs I open, the slower redrawing the tabs (at the top) seems to take. When I have only a few tabs open, I can switch between them quickly. Even when exiting the tabs, it appears that SecureCRT is redrawing/regenerating everything. It can take 2 seconds to switch between tabs.

I went in and changed the minimum tab width and it took about 30 seconds to resize all the tabs....
Any ideas?

Hi bschonec,

I'm sorry you're having trouble.

SecureCRT 7.0.4 was released April 04, 2013 and was supported on Windows 8, Windows 7, Server 2008, Vista, Server 2003, XP. It was not tested for use on Windows 10.

Does this behavior still occur on the current release, 8.3.4?

You are welcome to download the current release and use the fully featured 30 day evaluation to test its functionality. Please be aware, due to changes in the way SecureCRT encrypts sensitive data, upgrading to 8.3.4 then downgrading back to 7.0.4 may result in the loss of saved sensitive data such as passwords. I would suggest creating a backup of your configuration prior to upgrading to the current release. To do so navigate to Options > Global Options > General and take note of the location of your configuration folder. Navigate to this location and make a copy of the entire Config folder saving it somewhere you can restore from later if needed.

I'm having a very similar issue in 8.1.0. The "Send commands to all sessions" feature in the chat window is painfully slow compared to the SecureCRT 7 version I was on. (Unfortunately, I don't know the exact version because I moved to a new machine.) I was used to having upwards of 100 sessions open and sending commands to all sessions being very quick. About as quick as sending a command to a single session.

It almost feels like it sends those commands in series now rather that in parallel.

Unlike bschonec, it does not lock up on me while sending those commands. I can still change tabs. Also, I am on Windows 7 Enterprise, SP1.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Hi cwrasmo,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing similar trouble. There have been several enhancements/changes made since the 8.1.0 release two years ago. Do you still see the same behavior when running the current, 8.5.2, release?

The latest version my employer currently offers is 8.3.3. I've updated to that and the issue persists.

I'm going to request the latest version be installed and will report back.

Thanks
