Dear Klefish,

You colleague's request is already part of the same feature request.

I'm watching this thread so an update to if would be sufficient.

Thank you for creating the feature request.

So it's been about a year and a half, do we have any update or have they denied the request?

It has not been denied, but it hasn't been implemented at this time. It is still an open request and could be implemented in the future. If implemented, we will post a follow up message to this forum thread, and for any who have sent e-mail requesting notification, we will send e-mail notification.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the question.

There is no status update for this feature request. We will post to this thread if there is any change.

In the meantime, could you tell me what problem using a centralized database would help you solve?

We currently use mRemote and I'm trying to get everyone switched over to SecureCRT.

mRemote doesn't have a centralized session store, but it does keep all information in a single XML file.

When an update is required, we update the XML file on a shared drive and each person simply pulls that XML file to their local computer.

A while ago, there was a thread which discussed moving away from the current directory structure to a config file. Has that idea been abandoned?

Although it's not as ideal as a central store, a single config file does make updating everyone's config a simple process

Hi tvaldes,

No, feature requests are never abandoned (or denied ... or refused ... or voted off the island).

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database to add the ability to use a single XML file for client configuration.
Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #6011" in the subject line.

Hi,

What I would do is that I would opt for a universal configuration manager on VanDyke side (a cassandra db will solve it will scalability without any problems) based on shared keys per folders, which I can share with my colleagues. Implementing something like this will also let the cracked versions without this feature.

To be precise, everyone should be allowed to create folders, and based on a key allowed to share them with friends. In one of my previous job we were shared between customers and each customer had his own list of devices. With such a feature, there will be one person maintaining the list of a specific customer, share it with the members and all changes will be autosynchronized between every member.

What we were doing, we were sharing registry files for putty. Was a pain.

Regards,
Adrian.

Thanks for the ideas Adrian. We will post to this thread should we add the ability to use a database for session storage.
