Thai Characters in SecureCRT
 

Hi all

I'm running SecureCRT 6.5.0 (x64 build 380).

When I'm connecting to a system and try to view data with Thai Script characters, I see only garbage. I tried changing the session options to all the available fonts, and - depending on the font - the characters are simply ignored, or are displayed as garbage.

Client PC is Windows 7, server is Centos 6.

Any help appreciated

Does this data display differently (correctly) with any other terminal application?

I do not think it is a matter of font selection, but possibly character encoding.

What character encoding is configured in the Terminal / Appearance category of SecureCRT's Session Options?

The version you are using does have many Unicode/UTF-8 improvements:

New features:

• Unicode support was improved in the following areas: character sets from multiple languages can be viewed in a session, display of right-to-left reading order languages, UTF-8 characters can be mapped in the Keymap Editor, Send/Receive ASCII works with UTF-8 data, UTF-8 filenames can be used in the SFTP tab, pass-through printing supports UTF-8 data, and better behavior with scripts that use combining marks to compose characters.

However, it is a fairly old version, you might check your upgrade eligibility here.

Character encoding was set to "default".

After switching to UTF-8 it's now displaying fine!
